General : Oversoul: New PvP Battle Card MMO Announced

Indie developer, Artix Entertainment has announced that its new 'battle card' MMO, Oversoul, will commence a public beta phase beginning October 31st. Oversoul is an all new PVP MMORPG with unique gameplay that uses a system of battlecards to battle against opponents. The battles are strategic, so players won't be able to use just any card against any opponent. Each monster has its own strengths and weaknesses and it's up to the players to find out what they are and use their battlecards effectively to win the fight. Players who successfully win against one opponent will find that the same strategy will often fail against other opponents.

Changes to Star Wars: The Old Republic’s F2P Restrictions

Click www.ksgamer.com to view more game news
Having to take a title designed as a subscription game from the start and morph it into a free-to-play game cannot be easy. Nothing can be shoehorned or half-assed. You don’t want to alienate customers – new, old or current – yet you can’t have the game be too open or two velvet roped. BioWare is juggling this exact problem with Star Wars: The Old Republic right now. Lead Designer Damion Schubert has just announced some changes ahead of the November (re)launch.
Free players receive two quickbars, up from one.
Free players can participate in five PvP Warzones a week, up from three.
All players will see reduced Cartel Coin item locks (cash shop cooldown timers). Free players have been reduced to three days while subscribers are down to two days.
The changes have been made after analysis of the action on the test server.
Schubert spends a substantial amount of the post explaining the delicate balancing act of the subscriber vs. free-to-play experience. In fact, he believes that the PvP Warzone queue should increase despite the restriction, since many titles have seen subscriber numbers increase after converting business models. The past doesn’t guarantee future results, so Schubert was quick to state that if Warzone queues do go the other way, the restriction will be modified to correct it.

Guild Wars 2 : A Treat, or a Trick?

Click www.oscargamer.com to view more game news
Now that Halloween is near upon us, ArenaNet has pulled out all the tricks and treats for players in Guild Wars 2. We've got a nifty preview and a few thoughts to share about the Mad King. See what you think and then leave your ideas in the comments.
The first thing a player would always notice in the original game would be the decorations.  It was always fun to see ghosts and candy corn monsters running around town, causing all sorts of mischief.  Pumpkins, candles, cauldrons and other decorations would litter a town, giving you the Halloween feel.  Guild Wars 2 does the same thing, but really sells it.  Candles float, Quagans run around in costumes, bats hand upside down watching as you walk beneath them.  The best part is the change to the mystic forge, switching it to look like a giant cauldron. The effect is just what the event needs to tie the visuals together.

Star Wars: The Old Republic : Player Feedback Integral to Update Changes

Click www.oscargamer.com to view more game news
BioWare has left a new post on the Star Wars: The Old Republic forum indicating that they will be making changes to the next update which will bring the free to play model on board. The team indicated that community feedback was integral to the list of changes that will be implemented. Additionally, several bugs have been identified as priority issues.
We've found some crucial bugs that needed stomping, which is good. These changes will make their way to you probably early next week.
There are a couple of key concepts that should be kept in mind as you review free to play changes. The first is that, to be honest, all of you are looking at a gameplay mode that you will likely never see. Subscribers who choose to cancel their account will typically revert to something that we refer to as preferred status. My fellow designer Nathan Emmotthas a post up describing the ins and outs of Preferred Status. Originally, the second quickslot bar was part of preferred status, but this morning based on feedback here and what they were seeing in the community we decided to give it to everyone.

Final Fantasy XIV : This Momentous Occasion

Since then, however, Square Enix has show resolve to breathe new life into FFXIV with the forthcoming v2.0 "A Realm Reborn" version. We've got a lot to say about something as remarkable as this. Check it out before adding your thoughts to the comments.
The world of Final Fantasy XIV, as a story that was told, will fall under a crushing, immense weight that could not be stopped despite ill portents. Final Fantasy XIV, as a game that was developed, was nearly crushed by seemingly antiquated game design choices and the displeased fanbase of the game and the Final Fantasy brand, which left in droves after being disillusioned.

Blizzard prototyped Diablo in space

Click www.oscargamer.com to view more game news
Following the launch of Diablo II, Blizzard Entertainment considered taking the role-playing franchise to outer space. That's according to author David Craddock, who provided an excerpt from his book Stay Awhile and Listen about Blizzard Entertainment to Shacknews.
"Have you ever finished a round of Diablo and said, 'You know, I bet that addictive slot-machine formula would be a blast in a science fiction setting?'" Craddock asked. "Blizzard North thought so, too. After [Diablo II], the company split into separate teams: a Diablo team and a 'We love Diablo but it's time to try something new' team. They started and scrapped more than half a dozen ideas before a few team members suggested making a Diablo clone, but set on a space opera stage."
According to Craddock, this project was nicknamed "Starblo" by developers. Like Diablo II, it was designed to take place over several chapters, but instead of having players travel across a singular world, "Starblo" would have allowed them to customize spaceships and fly them across the galaxy, killing and looting creatures they found along the way.
Blizzard has produced several playable builds of the game, Craddock said, but a final name for the project was never conceived. It is not clear if Blizzard has scrapped this idea entirely.
Deep space is not the only place Blizzard considered for its Diablo series. Earlier this month, Craddock revealed that the studio had conceived a Diablo game for the GameBoy, tentatively titled "Diablo Junior." It bore resemblances to Nintendo's Pokemon series, but was ultimately canceled due to steep production costs associated with handheld games.
Stay Awhile and Listen launches in early 2013, published by Digital Monument Press.

TERA Behind the Walls! Masquerade Mayhem Begins October 23

Halloween, perhaps the most celebrated of all holidays in the MMO genre, will be coming to TERA for the first time in a few days. Dubbed Masquerade Mayhem, the event will be active from October 23 to November 5, 2012. The largest attraction is the opportunity to win one limited-time Halloween themed items, including a “terrifying” boneshaker mount.
To entice players new and old to join the party, En Masse Entertainment is offering the most basic prize simply for logging in during the event. The door prize is a Trick-or-Treat Mystery Box containing summoning scrolls, a Halloween themed, rare or “otherwise useful item.” The developer includes a pair of other activities, a pie-throwing chore to defending a trove of candy. Completing them will earn new titles, additional themed items and a shot at the Boneshaker mount.
The Boneshaker mount is also purchasable, so it’s not all that exclusive.

Star Trek Online Shows Off the New Gateway

Avid players of Star Trek Online are going to have a new tool to use starting with the game's next major update, Season 7. But it's not an in-game tool -- it's specifically meant for use when you're not in the game. The latest development blog for the game outlines the upcoming Star Trek Online Gateway, allowing players to access in-game information remotely via desktop, smartphone, or tablet.
At launch, the Gateway will only allow players to look up character status, ship status, officer status, and accolades. The development team is working on expanding the tool's functionality for the future, with the current features only scratching the surface of long term plans. And if you need to remember that you're playing Star Trek Online, the tool has been designed to resemble the ubiquitous LCARS interface from the series and game. It's not a groundswell of new content, but if you've long been waiting for the game to have some form of mobile functionality, the wait will be over soon.

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Editorial: Review in Progress - Part Three

Buy wow gold to www.oscargamer.com
This week for our continuing review of Mists of Pandaria we are going to take a close look at the pet battle system in the game. Some may dismiss this as a side attraction or mini-game; however we looked at it as an intregal part of Warcraft which is here to stay. The Pet Battles are fun and bring something completely new to the players which we found quite addictive. I thought it best to go into the highlights and low points of this system and explain why it is so important to Azeroth’s future.
The Rough Spots – Week Three (Collecting and Travelling)
In any collection game there is a lot that goes into getting access to all the content. I would not consider this a downside, because collectors are the ultimate form of completionists. The pet system now gives players a strong reason to travel back to the world and find all of these little critters we have been stepping on and one shotting for years now. It is the traveling that can become a little tiresome. However, WoW has done a lot to enhance the travel systems in the world. Just like collecting flying mounts or ground mounts has become such an important part of growing your character you can now use them to grow another aspect of your avatar: your pets.
For me I enjoyed the travel in the world. Going over new and old landscapes really brought back some memories of the game and I actually found the exploration more fun than when I went exploring in Cataclysm. Why? Because I now had a purpose, I was collecting. The only reason I include this aspect in the Rough Spots area is because it may not appeal to all of the WoW players.  For me though, it was fun to scour the world again, even if it takes time. But there are a lot of completionist and collection players out there and the pet battle system does an amazing job of giving players enough content to build some fun companions for their characters.
Another area that could be a down side to this system is finding other players to do battle with. Similar to the old duel system, I remember duels being very popular outside of Orgrimmar back in the day. I did not find too many players to fight it out with in the Pet System, but that could very much be my own fault. I am busy playing all aspects of the expansion afterall. However, I do believe now that most of the player base has probably hit 90, the pet battles will definitely grow in number. It would be great to see some awesome Fight Clubs spring up around cities and zones where players can fight it out. Is it bad that I named my Mechanical Chicken “Little Jerry?” Even worse, can I make a Michael Vick joke now? Ok, enough rough spots, let’s get to the shiny.
The Shiny Spots – Week Three (Everything Else About Pets)
The Pet System overall is a testament to WoW’s new direction: give player’s new stuff. I think it is a great system in Mists and adds a lot to the game even if it’s not for everyone. I say this because I was very much one of the doubters. I thought it would be silly and more annoying than anything else. Well, Blizzard proved me wrong. The idea that I can name my Mechanical Chicken was just funny, and I still have a soft spot in my heart for the Mechanical Yetis, two hysterical aspects of the game which WoW has now given a clear purpose outside of bragging rights.

The reason I think this system is fun is because WoW has kept to its core MMO design for a very long time now. While raids and bosses have changed, and PvP areas have sprung up, this really is a new system to the game that adds an entirely new direction for players. If you like to collect things and want a casual night of pet battles… it’s there for you. I found myself rooting for my pets with every battle. The fact that the system is laid out into families (groups) gives you plenty to go out and find. I really got ito building up my mechanical group, but there are a lot more.
The combat being turn based is refreshing too. Instead of button mashing all the time, you have a few moments to think. The system is easily compared to Pokémon, actually takes all of what is great about Nintendo’s franchise and brings it into WoW. Building up pets and combinations makes for some fun combat and I found myself addicted to the thing when all is said and done. I could spend hours hunting down pets and fighting them.
Here is the bottom line with the pet battles for WoW: while many of us made fun of it, it really is a great addition to the game. It is a fun ancillary system that players can choose to partake in or not. There is no pressure to level up like mad to be competative. The system is just fun as it is. Thanks, Blizzard for adding something into the game that truly does feel new.

We stopped by the Trion Worlds NYC Gamer's Day Event to check out RIFT: Storm Legion. Find out what we learned in our latest preview!
The expansion itself is bursting at the seams with additions to the game. To start, Trion Worlds is set to triple the size of the game world with the addition of two new continents, Dusken and Brevane. The former is a corruption of the Plane of Death, whose landscapes are grim and dark. Dusken’s flora and fauna have also been subject to a sort of flesh-crafting. Encountering trees made of bone or creatures that look like they’ve been pieced together with different bits of flesh will be commonplace here.

DOFUS : Quirky and Charmingly Fun to Play

To www.oscargamer.com to know more game news
Ankama Games' DOFUS has been one of those games that has quietly met with success over the years of its life, even spawning WAKFU recently. We take a look at DOFUS and see how it measures up in our latest review. Read on! Played DOFUS? Let us know what -you- think in the comments.
I can't say enough about how impressive and charming are Dofus' visuals.  The game sports cute, colorful character models and environments that manage to be reminiscent of fantasy anime archetypes while still presenting a unique and distinct style.  I tend to be pretty glowy over Ankama Games' art styles across their various media, and while I know that the anime-inspired graphics aren't quite everyone's cup of tea, there can be no doubt that the attention to detail and lovingly crafted environments in Dofus are delightful.  The game's sounds and music are likewise nice, although there isn't any voice acting or range of crazy sound effects outside of the clamor of battle.  Dofus' music is just as charming as its visuals, and can be sometimes wistful, other times rousing, although the game could use a bit more variety here.

General : EverQuest Next Reworked, Playable Next Year

Fans expecting new information on 'EverQuest Next' during this year's SOELive came away tonight with a bittersweet announcement from SOE president John Smedley.
During tonight's SOELive keynote address, Smedley explained that everything we've seen on EverQuest Next thus far has been scrapped and the game is in the process of being reworked. Given the turn of events, SOE will not be showing off EverQuest Next during this year's SOELive. However, Mr. Smedley did promise attendees that not only would EverQuest Next make an appearance at SOELive next year, it will also be playable.
Why'd SOE scrap the work done up to this point? Smedley noted that the team ultimately wasn't happy with the game. EQ Next felt too 'evolutionary', more like an EverQuest 3 than what SOE was going for. According to Smed, SOE 'changed the world' with the launch of the original EverQuest, and they want the launch of EverQuest Next to be an equally monumental moment in the MMO genre.
To that end, Smedley promised that EverQuest Next would be the "world's largest sandbox", with content delivered to players in an entirely new way. The team is being lead by EverQuest staples such as Terry Michaels and Dave Georgeson and fans were assured that they are intending on remaking Norrath into something unlike anything players have seen before.

Guild Wars 2: Ding Level 80 PvE Review

Click www.oscargamer.com to know more about guild war2 news
From the moment World vs World was announced my interest in Guild Wars 2 PvE dropped to zero. During the beta’s I spent maybe 30 minutes to an hour in PvE, just to try it out, which didn’t impress me, and the rest of my time in WvW. However due to the massive WvW queue times after launch I was basically forced into PvE. At first I was a bit upset, but assumed the queue times would diminish after a few days or perhaps weeks, but almost two months after launch, I still find myself sitting in the WvsW queues.
I have to admit I gave up pretty quickly on PvP, as a new dad, I just don’t have the time to sit in queue for 1-2 hrs, then spend another 1-2 in WvsW. So my attention turned to PvE, which not only grew on me surprisingly quickly, but is probably the best PvE I’ve every played in a MMORPG.
To understand where I’m coming from, let me give you some background; I hate questing, can’t stand it. I hate running to NPC quest hubs and having to run back; I hate the mindless quest grind; I hate that everything is marked on the map and there’s absolutely no challenge, exploring or surprises. I also hate that quests hubs turn MMORPG into linear games, which they were never meant to be. While I’m not saying Guild Wars 2 solves all that, I am saying that is how horrible the last decade of PvE games have been.

Recent MMOG Soundtracks You Shouldn’t Pass Up

Click www.oscargamer.com to view more guild wars2 news
Even if mainstream culture doesn’t know it, videogame music has come a long, long way since the beeps and boops of the 8-bit era. Instead of fighting with hardware to expand the range of noise – let’s be honest, that’s what it was back then – the processor, or heaven forbid the sound chip was capable of making, we now have full orchestras and incredibly talented composers creating soundtracks.
Where typical single-player excursion tend to have a set style, MMOG titles often change given the scenario, setting, zone or even the phase of a boss fight. This gives players hours of different music, enabling MMOG soundtracks to hold up as a stand-alone item more than any other genre.
Most titles these days include a soundtrack with the Collector’s Edition, but Guild Wars 2 has taken it a step further. Shockingly still available is the full soundtrack to ArenaNet’s subscriptionless title. Signed by composer Jeremy Soule, this collection weighs in at an impressive four CDs. The $29.99 physical collection is only available until Mr. Soule’s hand starts cramping and is sure to turn into a collector’s item.

After having found the Stranger, Deckard began his polite interrogation. The Stranger responded that the last things he remembered was him falling and fire. This made me wonder where the fire came from, unless he fell at such a huge speed he himself would’ve been on fire. He remembered a sword as well. A sword of great power, this sword was part of him, but during the fall it shattered into three pieces. Deckard made the inference that we should find these pieces and make the sword whole again. That this sword might be the artifact we need to restore the memory of this Stranger. Leah interjected, telling us that the resident goatmen have been rampaging through the fields. She wondered if the sword has anything to do with that. Deckard seemed to have put the puzzle pieces together as he immediately tells Leah that she might be right. After seeing my puzzled look he explained to me that the dead rose around the Stranger, if the sword is truly a part of him it might explain the goatmen suddenly driving them to madness. For me it made sense and gave me an excuse to try out my new equipment. I told them I would hunt these goatmen. Locating the sword seemed to be just a bonus to ending their terror.

WoW: Tauren Druid reaches L90 without a kill

Click the www.oscargamer.com to know the more news about wow
Irenic has not changed gear since logging in wearing a level 1 starter set. Item level equipped & in inventory was always at 0. I even went so far as to stop solving a race's archeology projects once something wearable was up next. I imagine my death count of 260 is above average but lack of gear really wasn't that difficult to work with.
Irenic's stats are a thing of beauty: 0 creatures killed. Item level: 0. The character has only completed one quest, which was an unavoidable inclusion flagged as complete for all factions that clicked into place at Level 86 but did not seem to grant any XP.
Total damage done in more than 12 days of gametime? Just 92 points, which Irenic explains was an accidental misclick some time before level 85.
Since the entrance to Pandaria isn’t designed to be entered without questing & killing I spent all my time doing archaeology, and gathering in Kalimdor.
Creative gameplay like this is an inevitable evolution of a game that has been around as long as World of Warcraft (eight years and counting!), with fans applying self-imposed restraints like no questing, killing or using class-specific advantages. Irenic explains that it is a challenge, but clearly not an unattainable one.
By the way, Irenic is an alt, the poster's main character is Konijnen, a Goblin Fury Warrior currently at Level 86, with a progression that looks much more like what you'd expect.

Guild Wars 2 : Halloween Event Detailed

Buy guild wars2 to the site www.oscargamer.com, have many discount.
ArenaNet has updated the official Guild Wars 2 site with a new post called "The Shadow of the Mad King". The post details Halloween thrills and chills in Tyria. There will be new items for sale in the Black Lion Trading post, festive decor around the game world, special PvP events, new mini-dungeons and bosses and much more.
Halloween has a long history in Tyria, and in times past was always marked by the spirit of Mad King Thorn cavorting among the people unleashing his own brand of insanity. However, it’s been over 250 years since he was last seen, and for most people he is merely a figure of folklore. Despite this, rumors persist among the populace that something wicked this way comes.

Blizzard considered Diablo for GameBoy – Report

Buy diablo3 gold to the site www.oscargamer.com, have many discount.
Blizzard Entertainment once considered bringing its Diablo franchise to Nintendo's GameBoy portable, according to David Craddock, author of the upcoming Stay Awhile and Listen series chronicling development of the iconic franchise.
An excerpt provided to Shacknews reveals that following the release of Diablo II, Blizzard North divided into multiple development squads. One immediately began work on the Lord of Destruction expansion, another was tasked with brainstorming new ideas, and a third began work on "smaller projects."
"One of those was given the working title Diablo Junior, a game tentatively planned for the Game Boy Color and/or the Game Boy Advance, depending on market share and other business-y factors," he said.
According to Craddock, Diablo Junior was planned as a single-player-only prequel to the original Diablo, and was even expected to resemble Nintendo's Pokemon series. Ultimately, the game was shelved due to "steep production costs" associated with handheld games, he said.
"Taking a page from Pokémon's book, the team wanted to release three cartridges, each packing a different hero in the warrior-rogue-sorcerer vein as well as items that players would have to trade for in order to collect," he said. "Heroes started in a unique town before heading into dungeons and wilderness zones."

A Newblette in Space: How to Train Your Spaceship

Welcome to www.oscargamer.com to know more about EVE news

The first, and arguably most important, thing to do is – can you guess? – plan. If you’ve been reading these regularly, you’re probably rolling your eyes at me and thinking ‘yes, we know, already, get on with it!’ But the more I play, the more I wish I’d set up an actual plan way back at the beginning. Now I understand why people asked me what I wanted every time I asked for help in the rookie chat. It’s really that important. The experienced players that I was looking at were in the same ships I was, using the same weapons. Even though they had access to lots of cash, it wasn’t helping them acquire better stuff, because like me, they lacked the skills to use the better stuff. What they were doing was simply planning.
Let me take a moment to recap how skills and training actually work before I go on. Every skill has a primary attribute, a secondary attribute and a training time multiplier. To take a specific example, Electronics has a primary attribute of Intelligence, its secondary attribute is Memory, and its training time is x1. So it trains pretty quickly as far as skills go, but you can improve that training time even further by increasing your intelligence and memory.
There are 2 ways to go about improving your attributes: remapping attributes directly, and equipping implants.  The reason I was stressing building a plan early on is that you only get a certain number of remaps, and implants can’t be removed once they’re equipped. From what I’ve heard, you get 2 remaps a year, which means the best way to go about using them is to plan out your skill training in 6 month increments.  Pick out your training, look at the skills, and remap to maximize the right attributes. Attributes don’t do anything other than boost training speed, so if you know you’re taking a bunch of skills that use Charisma, and none that use Intelligence, there’s no reason at all not to drop your Intelligence in favor of Charisma.
As for implants, they’re a one time deal. If you want to change your implant, the current one you’re wearing is destroyed. If you die, your equipped implants are destroyed (There is a difference between dying and losing a ship. If an NPC blows up your ship, you won’t lose your implants, but if you’re podkilled by a player, you will.). Which makes implants a pricey way to go about improving your attributes – so its best to know what you’re doing and take full advantage of them.
Having a strong 6 month plan that focuses on skills using the same attributes and focusing implants and remaps on those attributes is the best thing to do. If you’re wondering how much a difference this can really make, once I sat down and planned out what I wanted to learn, then bought +3 implants for the attributes I’d use the most, I cut the time it would take me to learn my skills by 50%! A skill that would have taken me 2 days to learn, took just 1. And that’s without remapping. Of course, to use the best implants you need to actually learn Cybernetics, but this is why I said that while ISK helps, it’s still possible to decently keep up. The newbie missions give out +1 implants, and you can spend the time it takes to learn the skills to equip the better ones making the ISK to buy them.

Making Gold in Guild Wars 2

Welcome to www.oscargamer.com to know more about gw2 news
I’ve played a lot of MMORPGs over the years and one thing has always been consistent, I’ve always been poor.  Most of the time it was because I didn’t want to spend the time grinding to make money, I never crafted and I’ve only slightly dabbled in auction houses.  Guild Wars 2 however makes it so easy to make money that for the first time ever, I consider myself in the upper-class.
I went into GW2 with the same mindset as every other MMORPG and after 2 weeks I was poor, with only 90 silver to my name at level 41. That day I crafted my way to level 43 which dropped me to about 60 silver and that’s when it happened. I said to myself, ‘I’m done with being poor’ and turned straight to the auction house to see how I could make some coin. Up until this point I’ve used the auction house sparingly to buy some mats and a few pieces of armor and weapons, but this time my goal was different.
I started to examine categories and items to see what was selling and quickly noticed that GW2 tells you the spread on every item listed. You can see the highest buying price as well as the lowest selling price with the difference being pure profit minus listing costs. Had I know it was this easy, I would have been doing this from day one.
I spent my 60 silver and flipped it within an hour and by the next day I was already over 1 gold; by the end of day three I had 3 gold sitting in my bank.  It’s been 10 days now since I started and I have over 10 gold to my name, plenty of mats plus I’ve bought exotic weapons for myself as well as large inventory bags.
You don’t need to be online often to do this. I log in for 5-15 mins three to four times throughout the day to collect money and to update my listings which are making between 20-50% profit on every sale. I’m sure those percentages will drop down over the next few weeks as more people realize this is the fastest way to make money and start doing it for themselves, but I’m still happy to share.
The way GW2 auction house is setup is unlike any other game as they group all items into a massive pool, so you don’t have to sift through dozens of separate auctions so determine the highest and lowest prices. The only thing required to become rich is patience.

Guild Wars 2 : Two Factor Authentication Beta Begins

View more game news to www.oscargamer.com
ArenaNet has announced that, effective immediately, Guild Wars 2 players can take part in the new beta of a two-factor authentication system. Players can download and install an authenticator program for a desktop PC or Mac and/or Android and iPhone mobile platforms. The new authentication system is designed to protect player accounts from hackers.
Mobile two-factor authentication is an alternative means of securing your Guild Wars 2account, and like e-mail authentication, is optional but strongly encouraged. Rather than sending you an e-mail when unauthorized login attempts occur, the game (or any of our online web sites) will prompt you for a six-digit number any time you log in to a Mobile Authenticator-protected account. Using a freely available app on three major smartphone platforms – iOS, Android, and Windows Phone – you can obtain the correct six-digit number unique to your account. These numbers change every 30 seconds and can only be used once; this ensures that without your mobile device, an attacker would not be able to compromise your Guild Wars 2 account.

View more news go to the site www.oscargamer.com
While Mists of Pandaria already comes packed full of some of the most diverse and expansive World of Warcraft content to date, we’re staying true to our goal of delivering new content faster. With that in mind, we’re pleased to share that the first major Mists of Pandaria content update, Patch 5.1, is well underway.
In fact, our plan is to release a build of patch 5.1 on the Public Test Realms soon so you can experience it for yourself! Initially, the PTR build won’t include all of the 5.1 patch content, but here’s a glimpse of the major features that are already in the pipeline.
Patch 5.1 Features
Pandaria and the War of Conquest
While members of the Horde and the Alliance have been busy exploring the exotic continent of Pandaria, Garrosh and Varian have been gathering their forces in preparation for the struggle to exert the influence of the Horde and the Alliance over these long-lost lands. Players who have quested through Pandaria will find Horde and Alliance expeditions arriving in force on the shores of the unspoiled continent, bringing the tensions between these factions to the fore. New daily quest hubs and faction reputations will be available to adventurers eager to do their part in the brewing conflict.
Brawler’s Guild
Underground fighting rings have sprung up in Stormwind and Orgrimmar that will give brawlers a chance to earn bragging rights by testing their solo PvE mettle against some of the toughest creatures found in World of Warcraft. The first rule of brawls is you don’t talk about brawls. The second rule…
Pet Battles Improvements
Several UI and other improvements will be added to the Pet Battles system, including a way to upgrade the rarity of pets that you’ve captured.
Item Upgrades
You will be able to spend Valor Points to improve the item level and quality of gear you already own.
The Quest Continues
Wrathion is keenly interested in the conflict exploding between the factions on Pandaria’s southern shore. He’s sure to have additional tasks for players to complete as they continue their quest for Legendary gear.
Keep in mind this is only a taste of what’s to come, and that there’s even more in store. Stay tuned for additional details as we prepare to release Patch 5.1 for testing!

The Novel Post: World of Warcraft: Jaina Proudmoore: Tides of War

View more news go to the site www.oscargamer.com
This review of the World of Warcraft: Jaina Proudmoore: Tides of War novel by Christie Golden is of the spoiler-free variety.
No novel has been more appropriately aligned with in-game events than Tides of War. Released just weeks ahead of Mists of Pandaria, Christie Golden was given the task of developing a story arc to kickoff the war between the Horde under Warchief Garrosh and the Alliance. With both sides still reeling from the final events of Cataclysm nearly all expected a lull in factional fighting, perhaps even a renewed chance at peace. Despite her best efforts, Jaine Proudmoore, ever the diplomat and focus of the novel, is unable to reach warmongering Garrosh before violence begins.
Golden is pure Golden in Tides of War. Her characters are spot on, from dialog to emotions, showcasing her in-depth understanding of the universe. Golden isn’t just articulating characters she’s worked with before. That’d be too easy. She’s reaching, grabbing and utilizing now-major players created by others, like Kalecgos and Rhonin, and humanizing smaller players such as General Marcus Jonathan.
Readers beware, like the players of World of Warcraft, the material in this book has grown up compared to other novelizations. There’s the obvious battle and dwarven alcohol references, but the descriptions of certain events and the impact they have on the major characters raise the bar. Characters on both sides of the struggle are so enraged, distraught and disgusted by actions taken by Garrosh that alcohol is openly discussed as an escape mechanism, rather than a comical subtle reference. Furthermore, an honest to god swear is uttered.
